Beautiful ski day today with temperatures in that Beautiful ski day today with temperatures in that ideal -1 to -5 zone. Did Pocaterra on fresh tracks to skier set Whiskey Jack, tasty lunch stop and then looped back on various inside trails before the big finish on Rolly Road. Forgot how nice the Rolly Road ski trail is! First photo is from Rolly Road. Great day and was happy to meet many interesting urban walkers who have been enjoying my book! From Riley Park, up McHugh Bluffs to Bridgeland, Riverside and back along the Bow River Pathway to Sunnyside. Today’s urban walkabout from Carburn Park to the Today’s urban walkabout from Carburn Park to the Lynnview escarpment (Walk 41 in my new edition of Calgary’s Best Walks) took us through a deer off leash, past bald eagles 🦅 , loons and so many 🦆 ducks, a beaver 🦫, followed by a climb to big Rockies and downtown views. The loop back passed by a wild ice hockey rink and a skating circuit. Frosty -20 start on the Club Fit Frog snowshoe at Frosty -20 start on the Club Fit Frog snowshoe at Burstall today. Was happy to be wearing my incredibly warm qiviut headband from the #ulukhaktok arts centre! The wind blown snow on Burstall Lakes lakes makes snowshoeing a breeze. Threw many sticks to keep pup warm until we hit the sunshine ☀️ and the temperature rose. Climbed the headwall past Robertson Glacier and enjoyed spectacular sunny lunch. Join me sometime! Happy New Year!! As I look back on 2020 and legiti Happy New Year!! As I look back on 2020 and legitimately say “hindsight is 2020” here are my takeaways: . Wellness is about much more than health. A sense of wellness comes from having a purpose , connecting with people and finding meaning. 2020 prioritized safety and health but forgot about wellness. Fear was the driver, anxiety has been high. . Be well! Go walkabout and connect with strangers or friends. Get out of your house and interact with others in the great outdoors. A wave or conversation lifts mood. Fresh air, exercise and sunshine is a life saver. And time in nature will help you see that we are part of something much bigger.
